When to visit Praia da Rocha. June and September are the sweet spot — sea temperatures above 21°C and the Strip nightclubs operate but without the August queues. July–August brings the bulk of package-holiday flights and temperatures around 28°C. April and October are quieter and the cliffs show off their ochre tones in low-angle light.

Walk east along the cliff path from Praia dos Três Castelos at 7 a.m. — that is the only quiet window before the morning cruise-ship crowds arrive. Skip the cliff-edge cafés on the front Strip and drive ten minutes inland on Av. dos Três Castelos, where Petisqueira Berbigão in Portimão is the long-running benchmark for cataplana de tamboril (monkfish); on the beachfront itself Restaurante & Bar O Farol remains the verified local pick. At night, stay on the Praia da Rocha side of the Strip (Av. Tomás Cabreira) — clubs and live-music venues face the sea and don't deal with the front-row stag parties on the inland side.
